Judge Schwartz was nominated by President Trump on April 10, 2026 and confirmed by the Senate on July 14, 2026. Previously, Judge Schwartz was a partner in the New York office of Sullivan & Cromwell LLP. He graduated from Princeton University in 2000 and Columbia Law School in 2003. After law school, he served as a law clerk to then-Judge Samuel A. Alito, Jr., on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and subsequently for Justice Alito on the Supreme Court of the United States.
