A filing is known in CM/ECF as a “filing event.”

To file a document in an appeal, start by logging in to the Second Circuit's appellate CM/ECF site.

On the startup page select Filing > File a Document.

The File a Document screen opens with a menu of all the filing options available to CM/ECF filers in the Second Circuit.
