- United States Circuit Court Judge Peter
W. Hall, Chair of the Second Circuit CJA and Pro Bono Committee,
announces that the Circuit Court of Appeals and all the District
Courts within the Circuit have agreed on a new initiative designed
to expedite the processing of CJA vouchers in both the Circuit and
District Courts. As of July 15, 2008, all vouchers submitted for
processing to the Circuit or District Courts within the Circuit,
must be typewritten on the official “pdf.” fillable voucher and
worksheet forms provided for that purpose by the Courts on their
websites. No other forms will be accepted after July 15, 2008.
Additionally, CJA Form 26 in the District Courts and CJA Form 27 for
Appellate Vouchers in the Court of Appeals will be substituted for
the Attorney’s Affidavit in Support of a Voucher Claiming Excess
Compensation, the use of which will be discontinued. These forms
along with instruction sheets (CJA Form 26A and 27A) are also
available on the Circuit and District Court websites.

- Effective 3/23/07
- "The Court will not reimburse
CJA appointed counsel for any costs associated with the production
of briefs and appendices other than copying and binding of the
necessary copies of those documents, the original text of which,
including covers, table of contents, table of cases, and any
necessary certifications, should be prepared by counsel using
appropriate word processing and formatting in compliance with the
requirements of federal and local rules of appellate procedure
(e.g., FRAP 32; LR 32.1). All bills submitted for
reimbursement for copying and binding of briefs performed by a
printing house or copying service must be fully itemized and must
indicate each component of the total charge for such services.
Failure to provide such itemized bills will result in those costs
being disallowed."
